Analytical Services
The ICA provides and facilitates analysis, both on-site and off, for the examination and investigation of the structural and chemical composition of cultural materials. The laboratory houses a library of reference materials pertinent to the study of conservation issues, as well as a set of the historically important Forbes Pigment Collection.
The ICA provides the following analytical services:
- Infrared examination
- X-ray examination
- Ultraviolet light examination
- Sampling for cross-section and chemical analysis
- Assistance in interpreting analytical results for scholarly investigations
