Learn about treating and preserving paper-based objects

As a regional conservation center, ICA is called upon to treat a wide range of materials from a variety of clients including museums, historical societies, libraries, corporate collections and private collectors. In the paper lab, this includes everything from Japanese screens to Andy Warhol screen prints and early maps of the United States to crayon portraits of a family's great-grandmother. Many projects require not only conservation but also framing and preparation for installation. 

Join Kate Passannante for an discussion about what it means to be a paper conservator, background on what counts as a "work on paper," the types of treatments that are possible and how to preserve your paper-based objects.

Join us the first Thursday of every month at 10:30am for a behind-the-scenes tour of ICA Art-Conservation. Meet the team, see what projects we are working on, and learn everything you ever wanted to know about art conservation! Tours are free, but limited to ten people, and reservations are required.
